Facebook in-app checkout and Instagram Shopping ads are the latest features of the Facebook Family of Apps. Facebook aims to achieve a seamless social commerce process for consumers. In the meantime, providing companies and advertisers an easy-to-operate & direct sales-focused ads management platform across all Facebook’s apps.
Easy purchase of advertised products with Facebook in-app checkout
The tech giant is developing its Facebook in-app checkout function, allowing users to buy products directly from News Feed ads. After clicking the “Shop Now” CTA on the ads, users can complete the whole purchasing process without leaving Facebook. This new function is very similar to Instagram Checkout released in March 2019. The only difference will be Instagram Checkout working on organic posts only, while the Facebook checkout is for ad posts. Apart from common payment methods such as Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, we expect to see Facebook’s own cryptocurrency Libra to be included as well. For now, Facebook is still testing this new feature and only a handful of businesses has access to it.
Convert Instagram’s organic shopping post into ads
Instagram has started its way to becoming the ultimate social commerce app since releasing Shoppable tags and Instagram Checkout. Shoppable tags have been a big success, but only available for organic posts. Now, Facebook is testing a feature to convert organic posts into ads via Facebook Ads Manager. If the company sees one shoppable post receiving particularly high engagement, they can easily turn it into ads, hence expanding the reach.
Facebook is also planning to add the Instagram Checkout function directly into the ads, to make them shoppable in the future. This will further smoothen the consumer’s online journey, as they’ll need fewer steps between product discovery and purchase.
